I've had a bunch of petty annoyances this morning, so get ready for some salty answers to some interesting questions in today's Q&A!

A Asks: Your post about research brought to mind an issue that was discussed at a writers’ conference I attended last month. A guest speaker who owns a small press said that in the submission section there’s a box that must be clicked that states AI has not been used at all in writing the novel, including for research. (Wikipedia is okay.) There were grumblings among the historical fiction writers who said AI expedites the research process by listing source documents, and it’s unreasonable to expect anyone to waste valuable time when the info is at their fingertips. The publisher clarified that the preference was personal to him, and other presses might not be such sticklers, but he felt the trend was growing, and writers should avoid using AI completely if they don’t wish to self-publish. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
